Chatham Islands Fishing and Diving
Whether fishing from the rocks or out on our boat, the Chathams offers some of the best fishing and diving in the country, somewhere you can still grab your kai straight from the rocks and enjoy the freshest seafood dinner ... blue cod, hapuka, paua, kina, tuatua and, of course, crays.

Check out an episode of the ITM Fishing Show where we hosted the crew and took them out on our former fishing vessel (also called Harvest) to tag great white sharks.
* March and April are closed season for crayfish, both commercial and recreational. |
Fishing Charters
We offer group fishing charters* on our new vessel FV Harvest. Minimum numbers apply. Please enquire about the different packages available which can be tailored to your needs.
Tackle supplied for each person. Tackle is also available for purchase at stores in Waitiangi.
Within a short distance from Chatham Hideaway there is plenty of opportunity to fish from the shore. Bring your own fishing rods/reels for shore-based fishing.
* Availability of fishing charters is weather dependent.

Diving
You can experience some fantastic snorkelling from a number of spots within close proximity to Chatham Hideaway. Bring along your own snorkel gear and belt, and we can supply lead weights for belts.
We can help you to plan your dive trips and organise access with land owners if necessary.
Please be aware that currently there is nowhere on the island to hire dive gear.
